Philosophy as the basis of an idea

Actually, the name of the Pioneer is identical to the Director of Jaya Ancol at that time, Mr. Ciputra, where he was the founder of the Ciputra Group. At that time, all business activities in Pak Ciputra were included in the Pioneer Group. and this is the basis of an idea.

Behind The Production

In early 1990, the Ancol Imagineering Team was designing an Edutainment to attract groups of students for a field trip to Dunia Fantasi.
The initial idea was about scientific inventors from the time of the philosophers Socrates, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michael Angelo, Wright Brothers to Neil Armstrong to the moon.

Furthermore, to be more useful for the team, it was finally named Teater Sang Pelopor. The process of creating scenarios and content is quite complicated in order to meet the interests of stakeholders at that time.

Then, because this show is in the form of Animatronic Edutainment, work on the animatronic was also carried out with a prototype robot named ROBIJA (Robot Buatan Indonesia Jaya Ancol) which serves as Rnd for the next animatronic-based Dunia Fantasi Rides. However, Imagineering Ancol also bought an animatronic set from the Italian company Valerio Mazzoli LCC to work several decoration on the Theater Sang Pelopor.

New Problem,New Animatronic?

However, it is not very attractive to school students. lots of school visits. but the students were not even halfway through the show decided to opt out of playing other rides.
However, at that time, Imagineering Ancol had started a new vehicle project, namely the War of Independence and bought a Sarcos robot as a study. One of the imagineering members thought why not to replace the MC/Presenter of the Theater Sang Pelopor with Sarcos robots. and finally it was decided to add the sarco robot into the Theater Sang Pelopor.

At that time one of the imagineering Ancol members (Budiman, Wahyu, Anom, Gaby) who went to the USA for operating training at the Sarcos office and preparing. 

Mr.Wahyuono went join training at Sarcos Robotic USA.

But anyone can be a puppeteer, because the puppeteer will be fitted with a sensor suit at every joint like a mechanical robot. so that whatever the body of the movement performer is followed by the robot. actors behind oneway glass so the audience can't see.

Closure

As time went on, the show was still empty of visitors and in 2000 the show was closed to the public and in 2009 it was replaced with an exhibit called Pentas Prestasi. and animatronics left over from Teater Sang Pelopor are still stored in one of Dunia Fantasi's warehouses, but one of them has been trashed and thrown away.

In conclusion, basically this show is quite interesting for those who want to know about scientific discoveries, unfortunately the target market is not quite right even though the robots used are expensive and sophisticated in Indonesia. that is all :)
